What Happens Here?

A week before the new set is released, you can head to our shop to crack open some pre-release packs, build a deck, and try out all the exciting new cards and mechanics in a friendly, informal tournament.

What is the Format?

The format for this event is Pre-Release Sealed. At the beginning of a Pre-Release Sealed event, you will receive a pre-release pack, which contains cards you need to play. For more information on the what is inside a pre-release pack, see below.

What is the Tournament Structure?

In Store will be Three 45 minute rounds of Swiss play, with an additional 45 minutes time allotment for deck construction.

We are also offering a take home option to use as you choose.

What Do I Get Here?

Every participating player receives a Lost Caverns of Ixalan pre-release pack. Inside each pre-release pack you will find:

• 6 The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Draft Boosters; each Draft Booster contains 15 Magic cards
• 1 foil, year-stamped Rare or Mythic Rare
• 1 Magic: The Gathering Arena code card
• 1 deck box
• 1 Spindown die

What Are The Prizes?

Each player receives 2 Magic:The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Set Boosters for participating. Additional packs are awarded to top finishers. Plus, promo cards for everyone throughout the events.

What Else Can I do Here?

What do I need to Bring?

All the cards needed to play are provided at the start of the event. A score pad to keep track of life totals is also necessary. Sleeves, deck boxes and counters are optional. Each player will need to register in the Wizards Eventlink.  Your Eventlink ID can be your Magic Companion id or Arena id. If you do not have either of these, our Wizardlings can help you get set up and enrolled in the event.

What is Magic: the Gathering?

In the Magic game, you play the role of a planeswalker, a powerful wizard who fights other planeswalkers for glory, knowledge, and conquest. Your deck of cards represents all the weapons in your arsenal. It contains the spells you know and the creatures you can summon to fight for you.

Trading card games like the Magic: The Gathering TCG combine collectible cards with a strategy game. You don't know what you'll get in a Magic booster pack. You just start a collection and trade with other players to get the cards you want.

The best part about a trading card game is that it's always changing. You design and build your own unique decks, and each Magic game you play is different. New Magic expansions are released a few times a year, and each new expansion brings new ways to stupefy and defeat your opponents.
