Magic - Mystery Booster Launch
Magic: the Gathering
Mystery Booster Launch - Expanding Sealed
What Happens Here?
Head to our shop to crack open some Mystery Boosters, build a deck, and experience this new chaotic set in a friendly tournament.
What is the Format?
The format for this event is Expanding Sealed. Unlike constructed formats, where you arrive with a carefully constructed deck ready to play, limited formats such as Expanding Sealed allows you to build a deck from new cards as part of the game.
At the start of Expanding Sealed, players will receive four booster packs, everyone will construct their deck from that pool of cards. At the start of each round, players will add an additional booster to their pool. Guidelines require a minimum deck size of 40 cards and allows players to add as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) as they like.
What is the Tournament Structure?
Multiple rounds of Bracketed Double Elimination play, based on attendance.
- 8–16 Players: 4 Rounds
- 17-32 Players: 5 Rounds
- 33-64 Players: 6 Rounds
Are There Prizes?
Yes. Additional draft boosters and promo packs will be awarded based on attendance.
What do I Bring?
You will need your DCI number. If you do not have a DCI number, our Wizards can assist you in obtaining one. A score pad to keep track of life totals is also necessary. Sleeves, deck boxes and counters are optional. Our Wizards will have lands cards for you to borrow during the event if needed.
What is a DCI Number?
DCI numbers are used to track performance, attendance and grant special perks to players participating in events officially sanctioned by Wizards of the Coast. Our Wizards can assist you in obtaining one or help you in locating a lost or forgotten one.
What is Magic: the Gathering?
In the Magic game, you play the role of a planeswalker, a powerful wizard who fights other planeswalkers for glory, knowledge, and conquest. Your deck of cards represents all the weapons in your arsenal. It contains the spells you know and the creatures you can summon to fight for you.
Trading card games like the Magic: The Gathering TCG combine collectible cards with a strategy game. You don't know what you'll get in a Magic booster pack. You just start a collection and trade with other players to get the cards you want.
The best part about a trading card game is that it's always changing. You design and build your own unique decks, and each Magic game you play is different. New Magic expansions are released a few times a year, and each new expansion brings new ways to stupefy and defeat your opponents.
