Food Fight - Draft

What Happens Here?

Open to all players Food Fight is a fun holiday tradition that is a way for players to give to those in need, while participating in a night of fun and cheaty shenanigans.

What is the Format?

The format for this event is Booster Draft. Unlike constructed formats, where you arrive with a carefully constructed deck ready to play, limited formats such as a Booster Draft allow you to build a deck from new cards as part of the game.

At the start of booster draft, each player opens a booster pack and picks a single card. Then everyone passes the rest of their pack to a player who picks a card before passing again. This process continues until all the cards in those packs have been drafted.

What is Food Fight?

Food Fights are special events where the players get to 'buy' cheats and in-game advantages by donating cans of non-perishable food items for Three Square Food Bank!

Cheats available for 'purchase' are as follows :

1 can - Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.

1 can - Look at the top three cards of target player's library, then put them back in any order. You may have that player shuffle their library.

2 cans - Search your library for a card and put that card into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

3 cans - Draft target players next card for them.

10 cans - Trade decks with your opponent for the rest of the match. (Deck will go back to their owners after their match is complete.)

Are There Prizes?

Yes. Prize packs will be awarded in accordance with the following:

  • 12 points = 5 packs
  • 10 points = 4 packs
  • 9 points = 3 packs
  • 6 points = 1 pack

Additionally, the top ranked player will receive a limited edition promo pack. A second promo pack will be randomly awarded to a participating player.*

*The amount of promo packs given may go up based on attendance

How are Points Awarded?

Three points are awarded for winning a match, one point for tying a match, and zero points for losing a match.

What do I Bring?

You will need your DCI number. If you do not have a DCI number, our Wizards can assist you in obtaining one.  A score pad to keep track of life totals is also necessary. Sleeves, deck boxes and counters are optional. Our Wizards will have lands cards for you to borrow during the event if needed.

What is a DCI Number?

DCI numbers are used to track performance, attendance and grant special perks to players participating in events officially sanctioned by Wizards of the Coast. Our Wizards can assist you in obtaining one or help you in locating a lost or forgotten one.

Magic: the Gathering

What is Magic: the Gathering?

In the Magic game, you play the role of a planeswalker, a powerful wizard who fights other planeswalkers for glory, knowledge, and conquest. Your deck of cards represents all the weapons in your arsenal. It contains the spells you know and the creatures you can summon to fight for you.

Trading card games like the Magic: The Gathering TCG combine collectible cards with a strategy game. You don't know what you'll get in a Magic booster pack. You just start a collection and trade with other players to get the cards you want.

The best part about a trading card game is that it's always changing. You design and build your own unique decks, and each Magic game you play is different. New Magic expansions are released a few times a year, and each new expansion brings new ways to stupefy and defeat your opponents.
