In Inca Empire, a civilization and territory building historical board game designed by Alan D. Ernstein, players are “Apus,” leaders of the four regions of the Empire who attempt to improve their status in the eyes of the Emperor by expanding and improving the Empire. Players build roads and conquer neighboring territory in order to increase the manpower and resources available to the Empire. Apus are rewarded for each new region they add to the Empire and for improvements such as terraces, garrisons, cities, and temples.
Designed for 3-4 players ages 12 and up, Inca Empire features excellent art work by Alexandre Roche and can be played in 90 minutes. The key to success in the game is creating an efficient network of roads. Players have to decide how best to employ their manpower. The player who has the most victory points (VP) at the moment that Pizarro arrives in the Inca capital at Cuzco wins the game.
An earlier version of the game was self-published in 2004 under the name Tahuatninsuyu. |
